A first on the first

What did we do for New Year's? How about going to bed at nine instead of eight! Woohoo! I'm a night owl. I woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like gun shots and proceded to freak out.
Me: "Cam, wake up. What's that noise?"
Cam: "Um, fireworks."
Me: "Why would somebody be setting off fireworks?"
Cam: "Cause it's the New Year."
Me (looking at the clock which says 12:01): "Oh, yeah."
Pretty pathetic huh? I'm such a ditz!
But to get on with why this post is titled what it is, this morning I woke up and sat feeling the baby kick. The movements have gotten progressively stronger the last couple of weeks and I thought (although I've thought this on more than one occasion), okay, today will be the day that Cam finally feels the baby kicking. So I grabbed his hand and stuck it on my belly. Next time he kicked I said, "Did you feel that?". And Cam finally said yes, but it didn't sound really enthusiastic. Another kick, "Did you feel that one?"
"Yeah but I can't tell if it was just a muscle contracting."
"Oh, believe me, that's the baby."
Before I could even ask again, Cam said "Ooh, I felt that one." And he continued to feel the baby kicking. I am SO excited that he can feel the baby now too. So, for the first time, and on the first day of the year, Cam got to feel the little one kick. It's so awesome and I'm so happy that he finally got to feel it too.
